Red wine is most commonly spilled by the guests at your party. Ever wondered why? Maybe because they know that red wine can really create havoc for your fabric, they are thus nervous and clumsy which leads to the spillage. Almost all types of fabric can be discolored by the wine stain. So it’s actually a very serious problem for you favorite fabric may be spoiled by the wine stain.

A wine stain can discolor your favorite cloth or any other fabric. This is the reason that it is dreaded so much.

All the wine stains are not red in color. The stain of red wine is most noticeable however white wine can also leave some ugly stains. In case of a wine stain, the first thing that you need to do is to put cold water quickly on the stained area. This will dilute the wine and removing the stain will thus become easier.

Pour cold water from the back in case the wine is spilled on removable items like bedding or clothing. For this you should turn the cloth inside out and then clean from behind. This is the most effective method for removing wine stain.

Once you are over with the rinsing, you need to wash the stain with the laundry detergent. Put the detergent, rub it over the fabric and then leave it for 5 minutes. However make sure that you do not leave the detergent for more than 10 minutes. You can use washing up liquid in case you don’t have the laundry detergent.

Use carpet spot cleaner to remove the wine stain from rugs and carpets. They are very effective for removing the stain. These spot cleaners are easily available. They should be always present in your cleaning cupboard. Some of them are designed specifically for particular type of stains.

You should soak your fabric for long in case the stain is not going off. Then you should put it in the washing machine. If the stain in rugs and carpets is still visible, then you should go for professional cleaning. You should always try to remove the stains as quickly as possible. It’s not wise to call for professional help on Friday if the spill took place on Monday!

You should not have any misconceptions about removing these stains. People use different products for removing the stains like ammonia, milk, club soda, hand soap, toothpaste, and salt talc and so on. However these products actually are of no help. You can pour white wine over the red wine stain. It may work but you have to be careful while pouring the wine. You should know about these remedies in detail and only then you should try them.

The best option is to use detergents and rinse well. Spot cleaners are the best bet for removing stains from rugs and carpets.
