Making Of Red Wine

Drinking red wine has been portrayed by the media as a means of style. Somehow Red wines are completely different from white wine. You may found everyone prefers red wine than white in this universe. From the delicate Pinots to the strong, bold Zinfandels, the red wine petulant swings back and forth over a wide range of colors and flavors.

Red wines are superior to other wines and also packed of complexity. Everyone can make out a difference between red wines and white wines due to their color. In fact they will not care whether they drank white or the red wine. Actually the differences between white and red wine are far more than skin deep.

Wine is usually produced from one or more varieties of grapes and from many European species. In fact there are two types of grapes according to their color and skin like black or white. Wines can also be produced by vinification methods. The color of wine is not determined by the juice of the grape. Red wine is made from red or black grapes, but its red color is bestowed by a process called maceration, whereby the skin is left in contact with the juice during fermentation. White wine can be made from any color of grape as the skin is separated from the juice during fermentation. A white wine made from a very dark grape may appear pink or ‘blush’.

For example Pinot Noir or Chardonnay and Merlot are used as the predominant grape in result it turns to a varietal opposite to a blended wine. Blended wines are in no way inferior to varietal wines; indeed, some of the world’s most valued and expensive wines from the Bordeaux, Rioja or Tuscany regions are a blend of several grape varieties of the same vintage. Wine can also be made from other species or from hybrids, created by the genetic crossing of two species. Usually in North America species like Vitis labrusca, Vitis aestivalis, Vitis muscadinia, Vitis rupestris, Vitis rotundifolia and Vitis riparia are grown for eating as fruit but these are made in wines at that time, even this can be turns to grape juice, jam, or jelly also.

During the winemaking process, the wine comes out of the juice of the pigmentation of the skin colors grapes. In fact red grapes can only make red wine. In addition to these red grape skins contributes certain flavors and texture to red wines for its red color. With color and taste, Red wines looks completely different from white wines.

Tannin as one of the important substance is extracted from the skin of the grapes for red wines. This substance only can be found in the skins of red grapes. Tannin is usually bitter or dry flavor. The wine will taste harsh and astringent, if tannin is not used properly. In fact this tannin is only one reason which brings difference between red and white wines. Somehow all red wines are contained with some level of tannin.
